Beneath the streets of the Square Mile lies the Roman city of Londinium, and this
walk brings to life 400 years of occupation, revolt, fire and eventual abandonment.
We will discover some of the tantalising remains that lie in the shadow of todays offices, including part of the Roman fort and sections of the 12 mile-long Roman wall built around the City.
Visit the site of a Roman bath house and descend into a spectacular amphitheatre hidden beneath an art gallery. On this spot female gladiators once fought.
Hear how wartime bombs and archaeologists gave us new understanding of life in the ancient city, and the current excavations that are yielding up more treasures.
