'When you have seen one green field, you have seen every green field, let's take a walk in Fleet Street!' (Dr Johnson)
Explore the hidden byways of this fascinating street of 'ink and drink'. Once home to monks, knights, newspaper barons and printers, this area has attracted literary figures throughout the ages, including Shakespeare and Dr Johnson.
Follow in Shakespeare's footsteps to the site of his Blackfriars Theatre tucked amongst medieval City streets. We will see Dr Johnson's house and the place where newspapers began in the 18th century.
Hear the story of Sweeney Todd, and step inside one of London's oldest taverns built after the Great Fire of London.
We finish with a free cup of tea at Twinings Tea Shop which first opened in 1717!
